Bells masters circular knitting!

Is there anything as wonderful as learning something new and feeling like you're going to be just fine? Ok, maybe there are some pretty strong competitors in terms of wonder. I can name a few, but not right now.

Having made a way too small London Beanie I got the hang of this whole in-the-round thing, not to mention finishing it off with double pointed needles (DPNs). Not my favourite activity, I've got to say, but I'll get there. Anyway, the beanie might be too small (I'll give it to one of the little girls next door I think), but at least it showed me that there is no need to be afraid.

Circular knitting is my friend.

I finished it off late last night because I knew that today I was going to use that new skill to embark on something fabulous. Read on.

I've now made three of the rather nice but very simple basketweave patterned hot water bottle cozies (see previous post) and I felt there were new frontiers to conquer. Namely, the new frontier of the BAWK Hot Water Bottle Cozy, which apparently means Bottleneck Avenger Who’s Knit. Cute name.

Anyway, a friend on a forum I'm on found it a couple of weeks ago after my current cozy was destroyed by the sudden and inexplicable disintegration of my beloved hot water bottle in the middle of the night. (Don't get me started on that story - it began with my husband dreaming his feet were in water - that's because they were!) Anyway, the hunt was on for a new pattern and the BAWK is it. What fun! Cable stitch AND circular needles with the gorgeous Bendigo Woollen Mill yarn I'm wading my way through. I have so much of that stuff.

What more fun can a girl have on a public holiday?

OK, fun can also be had cooking Jamie Oliver's Bolognaise sauce and drinking a very nice shiraz.

Knit on....
