Bells in the kitchen

Ok guys, I have no knitting to update you with.

The steeked jacket continues to grow - and will do more so tonight while I sit up waiting for the new TV show, Brothers and Sisters, to come on later.

I'm still working on my brother-in-law's socks, which I had to undo because, well, he's a small guy and I think I made them TOO small. Not good.

And the pretty blue scarf I'm working on also continues to grow.

So you're all going to have deal with food porn instead.

I mentioned in my post on Saturday that I was going to make a dish called Braised Star Anise chicken.

Well I did.

It was a trial run for when some friends of ours come for dinner in a couple of weeks.

Here it is.

Isn't it pretty???

I'm going to have to learn to make nicer backgrounds for food photos, I think, but seriously, stuffing around trying to get everything laid out so I could take a photo AND get to eat it before it went cold was not on the agenda. Take the photo and eat is my rule.

Here it is with the salad I made largely out of produce from our garden. Zucchini, cucumber and tomato salad.

Yum. Yum. Yum.

For those who are interested, the chook is braised in a lot of liquid, including kecap manis, soy sauce, brown sugar, star anise and ginger. FABULOUS!
